Core materials are used in sandwich construction where structural skins are bonded on either side of a core. The type of core, skin type and skin thickness all contribute in various ways to the great strength and stiffness of this type of construction.<\/p>\n
Core materials are often used where high performance and lightweight is required, such as in aircraft, kayaks and rowing skills.<\/p>\n
Core Types include: Rigid<\/strong> Polyurethane Foam – <\/strong>35kg\/m\u00b3 – 25mm and 50mm sheets stocked. Other thicknesses available on request.<\/p>\n Core Mat – <\/strong>Cheap but soaks up a lot of resin. 3mm available<\/p>\n Balsa – <\/strong>Usually end grain but also used long grain.
